Welcome to West Midlands Advanced Chiropractic, where we are committed to helping our patients understand and resolve the root causes of their discomfort with the latest diagnostic technology available. Located in Aldridge, our clinic offers non-invasive, stress-free diagnostic tools such as digital chiropractic scans and comprehensive posture analysis to ensure every patient receives targeted and effective treatment.
Our digital spine scans utilize MyoVision technology—a state-of-the-art diagnostic tool initially developed for NASA. This advanced scanning technology measures muscle activity around the spine, allowing us to detect areas of muscular compensation, which can often indicate underlying spinal issues.
The ScanVision sEMG exam is a unique electronic assessment that measures muscle activity along the spine, functioning similarly to an EKG for the heart. Through this scan, we can observe muscle patterns that may reveal spinal health concerns. The process takes only a few minutes, is painless, and is safe for patients of all ages, including children, pregnant women, and seniors.
The sEMG scan helps us identify areas of muscle tension, often a response to spinal misalignment or injury. We can measure muscle activity without causing pain or irritation by placing small electrodes on the skin. This objective information helps us build a baseline of spinal health, guiding your treatment and tracking improvements over time.
The scan results are displayed in color-coded images, with each color representing a different level of tension:
Green – Normal muscle tension
Pink – Moderately elevated tension
Red – High muscle tension, indicating acute conditions
Yellow – Very low tension, often seen in chronic conditions
The scan also indicates any imbalances between your spine’s left and right sides, providing a detailed picture of areas needing attention. By regularly monitoring these readings, we can track how your muscles respond to treatment and adjust care as needed.
The EP (Electrophysiological) Stress Score is an overall measure of muscle activity along your spine. This score serves as a benchmark, allowing us to evaluate changes in spinal health over time. An elevated initial score may indicate acute muscle tension from subluxation or injury, often decreasing with care. Lower initial scores can reflect chronic muscle fatigue, which we expect to increase as your muscles regain normal function through treatment.
Proper spinal adjustment begins with accurate diagnostics. Whether we address muscle spasms, alignment concerns, or general tension, the MyoVision scan allows us to pinpoint issues and create tailored treatment plans. If further tests, such as x-rays, are needed, we can recommend them based on precise data from your MyoVision scan.
At West Midlands Advanced Chiropractic, we use surface EMG (sEMG) to assess neuromuscular electrical activity, revealing areas of muscle strain or inactivity that may affect your spinal alignment. This diagnostic tool captures muscle function in real-time, showing us precisely where issues like spasms or weak muscle response occur. Although it does not directly diagnose misalignment, it helps us determine if adjustments or additional tests are required for optimal spinal care.
